The new ISTQB® Certified Tester AI Testing (CT-AI) v2.0 exam is now available at SEETB
20 Oct 2026
SEETB is pleased to announce that the ISTQB® Certified Tester AI Testing (CT-AI) v2.0 exam is now available! The new version of the certification reflects how quickly AI has become part of the systems we build, use and test, and it gives testing professionals a recognized way to show they are ready for it.
What CT-AI v2.0 covers
The certification focuses on testing AI-based systems, including machine learning systems and generative AI systems such as large language models. It prepares you to design and run tests for systems with probabilistic and non-deterministic behavior and a strong dependence on data, and it introduces the AI-specific quality characteristics defined in ISO/IEC 25059.
The syllabus follows a lifecycle-based approach. It starts with an introduction to AI, quality characteristics and acceptance criteria for AI-based systems, and the fundamentals of machine learning, including data, performance metrics for classification and neural networks. It then moves on to testing AI-based systems, with dedicated attention to generative AI and large language models, and to the test levels specific to machine learning systems. The final areas are input data testing, model testing and ML development testing.
After the certification, you will be able to calculate and interpret ML functional performance metrics, understand how simple neural networks work and are tested, contribute to a test strategy for a machine learning system, and design and execute test cases for such systems.
Who it is for
CT-AI v2.0 is aimed at testers, test analysts, test engineers, test managers and test consultants, as well as data analysts, data scientists, software developers and user acceptance testers who work with AI-based systems. It is also a good choice for project managers, quality managers, development managers, business analysts and IT directors who want a solid understanding of how AI-based systems are tested. The ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate is a prerequisite.
Exam format
The exam has 40 questions, a total of 44 points and a 60-minute time limit, with 25% extra time for candidates taking it in a non-native language. The passing score is 29 points.
What happens to CT-AI v1.0
CT-AI v2.0 replaces v1.0. According to ISTQB, the English version of v1.0 will remain available until April 21, 2027, and non-English versions until October 21, 2027. After these dates, exams and training courses based on the v1.0 syllabus will no longer be offered.
10% off until the end of October!
To mark the launch, we are offering 10% off the price of both versions of the exam until the end of October. If you have been planning to certify in AI testing, now is a good time to book!
